NASAMW has joined the IWF (International Wargaming Federation). The HMGS Gulf South had been the previous US delegate.
The IWF is based in South Africa and currently supports the Individual World Championship tournament for DBM and DBR, as well as a game called Morabaraba. The website is http://www.theiwf.org. It hasn't been updated for a while, and is going to be redone, but it at least gives a bit of history of the organization.
There will be a meeting of IWF member organizations online starting the end of October to discuss, among other things, keeping the Worlds as a yearly event. It had been moved to a bi-yearly starting in 2008 (Greece is hosting 2006). There has been some resistance to the move and if you would like to voice an opinion contact Jim Hauber (jshauber@yahoo.com) who is the NASAMW representative who will be taking part in the meetings. The North American continent also has an appointed person and that is Steve Payne from the Gulf South.
Each country gets 1 vote for each 10 members registered. Currently NASAMW has 30 people registered who chose to pay the extra $2.00 for the IWF. This will allow us 3 votes.
If you are a USA or Canadian citizen and plan on attending the IWF Individual Championship in Athens you should join NASAMW (Joining NASAMW) first (technically only organizations are members of the IWF) and pay $2.00 extra for IWF affiliation.
The Greek hosts have promised a website "soon". Unfortunately Panos (the dude) is having computer problems at the moment.
The following information has already been released:
